Patient Testimonials: Frank’s Favourable Feedback

Patient Testimonials: Frank’s Favourable Feedback
May 7, 2024
We regularly see hard of hearing clients who have never worn hearing aids before or have hearing aids but are not getting the right level of amplification from them.
Wearing hearing aids that don’t work correctly affects their behavior, something we’ve noticed time and time again. People that visit us like this are generally withdrawn, and they tend to avoid social activities – meaning their hearing aids aren’t contributing much toward helping their hearing or their lives in general.
This brings me to the great feedback we received from Frank.
Frank came to us through a friend’s referral who insisted Frank speak with me. Frank had a set of hearing aids from nearly 20 years ago that, by nothing short of a miracle, kept on working.
However, even though they were functional, they were long since out of his current prescription levels. Frank needed help to move forward, especially as his low-functioning hearing aids made him withdraw from social events.
Part of the plan we came up with involved helping Frank participate in the monthly group meetings with his former co-workers; he used to love going to these meetings, but it had been years since he’d attended any.
With the help of his new hearing aids, Frank was very excited about the new possibilities in life with a new set of hearing aids – even with the initial concerns about the overwhelming new technology.
After two days of wearing his new hearing aids, Frank sent us an email. Here’s part of it:
These hearing aids have returned my confidence. I can now participate in plain ordinary conversations. A case in point was during this morning’s dog walk. I stopped at the fence of a neighbor and had quite a long conversation and I was able to comprehend the words being spoken. Occasionally, I would miss a word and say “Pardon,” but I was able to comprehend the word a second time. That is the very first time I’ve had such a long conversation like that. I felt normal again.
There was a quality of life that was missing that has since been returned to me. I’m all hyped up for my next conversation with anybody I happen to encounter during my dog walks or anywhere else. I no longer must tell anyone up front “I’m hearing impaired,” because I have that confidence now that I will be able to comprehend conversation. I am finally leaving that place where I have been isolating myself from society.
I have not listened to sounds coming from my TV in over 15 years. With the TV adapter, this is so cool to be able to hear sound come directly from my TV to my hearing aids. This is such a great thing for me to have that ability now. WOW, amazing technology!
I suppose you have heard many stories like mine before, but unless one stands in the shoes of a hearing-impaired person, one does not know what it feels like to have that significant ability again to connect back to society. It feels great and has enhanced my quality of life.
Stories like Frank’s, as well as the many others we get to experience when treating and helping people hear better, are the fuel that keeps us going.
If hearing care sounds like something you might need, you’re in the right place.
